Photo ll - is for the intermediate level photographer who has taken my Photo I class/ 4-week private lesson and/or feels somewhat comfortable knowing what f.stops and shutter speeds are. However, consider taking this class to, further advance your photo taking skills, become re-inspired or to learn more about your camera and tips for improving your photographs.
Kelly Mintz will teach you, in a simple to understand manner, more about your camera's settings, as well as how to create striking photographs. Topics include learning about composition, camera and lighting techniques (flash & reflectors). Composition tips are taught and include learning how to take better photos of landscapes by photographing at inspiring places on a field trip. Students are taught how to photograph people, both formally and candid style. Kelly will arrange for a person to pose so that students can practice observing light, photographing and posing a person. Some other topics that are taught is how to photograph at night to create unique "time lapse-photography". These are just some of the topics that may be included, but each class is different allowing student's needs & interests to be met.
After a class lecture, Kelly accompanies the class on several field trips to inspiring places so that students may practice and apply camera concepts. Most other photo classes don’t offer field trips, but she feels it is the BEST way to learn photography.
The class chooses where to go on these field trips. Students have been to the Topsfield Fair, Maudsley State Park, Salisbury Beach reservation, the old snuff mill in Byfield, Oldies Flea Market, Castle Hill in Ipswich, sunflowers at Colby Farm, Plum Island Reservation, Nunan’s Florist, the Newburyport Farmer’s Market, and even an old jail in Newburyport!
Students present some of their homework images to the class to receive non-judgmental constructive and positive feedback. Class size is limited to 6 students so individual attention can be given.
If you want to build a portfolio and/or to advance your mastery of the fine art of photography, there are always NEW topics and techniques being offered for each class.
