This 1-day sunflower and flower POWER photography workshop is for the person who wants to learn to take incredible photographs of flowers using their digital camera. The workshop will be held at the beautiful and inspiring, Coppal Farm (https://www.nhsunflower.com/) during their sunflower festival. Five stunning acres of sunflowers and flower fields, will NOT be open to the public, but only a few other photographers and my students. No crowds, just us and sunflowers galore!
The workshop will begin at, the SEE Shore Photography studio in Newburyport. Owner, Kelly Mintz will teach you which camera settings are best to use when photographing flowers, as well as tips on how to best capture this amazing sunflower field. Kelly makes sure that she goes over each student's individual camera settings before the sunflower festival. For the second part of the workshop, Kelly will accompany students to the, Coppal House Farm (about a 40 minute drive from Newburyport, MA) to photograph during the best part of the day - the golden hour. There are 5 acres of sunflower and flower fields. They will be in full bloom and inspiring for any level photographer. Students will have ample opportunity to practice photographing the concepts from class lecture and Kelly will also demonstrate how to create stunning flower photographs - learning new ways of capturing the beauty of flowers. Because Kelly has already reserved the sunflower and flower fields, there will be a very small amount of other photographers to get in your shot!!! I limit the class to only 8 students as well. Photographing alongside Kelly, is a great opportunity to learn by doing, ask questions and get inspired by the surrounding area. Finally, Kelly will provide each student with constructive guidance and feedback about the photos they took. Always keeping things positive and fun. The workshop provides benefits to both the beginner and intermediate photographer. Kelly Mintz has her Masters in Education, is a professional photographer and over 20 years experience teaching photography. All photos were taken by Kelly Mintz. SCHEDULE: 3:30-5:15 - Lecture at Newburyport Studio 5:15-6:15 - break/dinner and drive to Coppal House Lee, NH 6:15-8:30 - photograph the sunflower field 8:30 - leave with AMAZING photos! |
Supplies Needed
• A digital camera. Bring a wide angle, macro and/or any lens in the 18-85 ish mm range. (If you like, I have a Canon Rebel for a student to borrow.) It is not required you rent or buy additional lenses.
Tripod is optional.
• Please make sure your camera’s batteries are fully charged and/or bring extra batteries
• Please make space on your memory card.
•A notebook for taking notes during class.
• Snacks/water, suntan lotion, bug spray, and comfortable shoes is a must.
