P h o t o I - 4 beginner photography classes offers students an opportunity to truly learn more about their cameras and how to take better photographs. This class is for adults with NO prior experience using their camera in any other settings other than typically Auto.
Photography manuals and books can be confusing. Cell phone photography doesn't always produce the best quality photo, especially in low light or moving subjects. However, Kelly Mintz strives to teach photography in a fun, clear and simple to understand manner. She will teach you how to gain control of your cameras settings by hands-on instruction with your individual camera. (Kelly knows how to teach EVERY camera) You will learn to use the camera's {Aperture and Shutter} modes. The more you're able to come out of the automatic modes, the more you're able to control the outcome - resulting in better photographs.
Not only will you learn about your aperture and shutter speeds, but also how to, focus on your subject, deal with harsh outdoor lighting and when and how to use your flash. There will also be tips for improving your photographs of people, landscapes and more. This is extremely useful for any beginner photographer.
Kelly has a Master's in Education and her teaching style is very interactive. She provides one-on-one attention to you and your camera. In addition to individualized assistance, she also uses photo book examples by world renowned photographers, and informative handouts. Most importantly, students will practice photographing on field trips to local inspiring places.
All four classes will have a lecture, then Kelly accompanies the class on a field trip. This is something that most other photography classes don't offer, but she feels learning by doing is the best way to learn photography.
Students will have the opportunity to practice at home with homework assignments and then present their photos to the class for non-judgmental, constructive and positive feedback.
Class size is limited to 6 students so individual attention can be given.
